Sheila English

I started this journey by legally trademarking the term “book trailer” back in 2002. Back then no one knew what a book trailer was and if you asked them, they’d say it was a bookmobile. 

I knew the future was in video even before YouTube was born. I mortgaged my home, started my production company, took courses to educate myself, and never looked back. Not even when one of the big New York publishing companies told me my idea was “stupid”. Then YouTube happened and no one thought that anymore.

I’ve always been forward-thinking. I watch the book marketing trends but also other popular trends to see where books might have a place no one has thought of before. I’ve been on NPR several times talking about how I got book trailers into movie theaters. Talked about my ideas in the Wall Street Journal when I got book trailers playing on screens in buses in major cities.

I’ve won so many awards for directing, screenwriting and producing that I am now a judge for the Telly Awards. I don’t just want to be first. I want to be best. And I want that for you, too.

Award-winning producer Brenda Urquhart has been creating book trailers for decades. From live action video, to author interviews and motion graphics, Brenda has worked with some of the best and most amazing authors.
